A Neighborhood in Transition

A Neighborhood in Transition
In 1909, William Dayton, a member of the third family which owned the Fuller-Collins House, obtained approval to develop the three acres of land that the house had sat on since 1866 into a residential subdivision with 46 sublots fronting primarily on a new north-south street-- Dayton Street (today, East 100th Street). The Fuller-Collins House was situated on new sublot 2 (outlined in red) of this subdivision. The residential development of these three acres signaled an end to rural life in this neighborhood of Cleveland which was formerly part of Newburgh Township, and for a very short time the Village of Corlett. | Source: Cuyahoga County, Office of Fiscal Officer
