Cleveland Shale
Pictured above is Peter Bungart excavating a concretion from Cleveland shale in Big Creek Reservation. This shale strata extends from the Chagrin River to the Vermillion River in beds between 10 and 100 feet thick, and is famous for its fossilized remains.
