Shaker Meeting House Interior, 1898
The meeting house acted as the center of the North Union Shaker community. The building was designed to reflect their religious customs as men and women entered for religious services by separate doors and sat on different sides of the room. A 50 by 50 foot open space was used by members during weekly services for singing and dancing.
