Built in 1868, the Second Empire Italianate-style house was designed by the notable Cleveland architectural firm of Griese and Weile. The original address for the house was 327 Franklin Avenue. In 1906, it became 4606 Franklin Avenue. This was the home of Cleveland mayor Stephen Buhrer from 1869 until his death in 1907.
