Cleveland Worsted Mills strikers
The largest and most destructive strike occurred in late 1955, brought on by a breakdown in talks between company officials and the Textile Workers Organization. Almost the entire 1,400 employees joined the strike. In January 1956, the company's leaders chose to liquidate assets rather than continue talks and the plant closed. | Source: Cleveland Memory Project, Special Collections, Cleveland State University.
