Father Dan Berrigan, a Jesuit priest, was an antiwar activist and practiced nonviolence, like Dorothy Day. Berrigan was known for his involvement with the "Catonsville Nine" in 1968 where the group destroyed 378 draft records in protest to the Vietnam War. The Catonsville Nine then recited the Lord's Prayer after the destruction of draft records. Berrigan and the other eight were tried in Federal Court. After the case was unsuccessfully appealed, Berrigan became a fugitive and held services despite being tracked by the FBI. His actions and devotion to spreading nonviolent Catholic social teachings permeate the Cleveland Catholic Worker. | Date: ca. 1969 | Source: Cleveland Catholic WorkerDownload Original File
