An Unfortunate Turn of Events
Hoffman Brewery might have one day been as successful as Gehring Brewery (later bought out by the Cleveland and Sandusky Brewing Co.) or the Leisy Brewing Co., which was the oldest family owned brewery in the United States when it closed in 1958. Unfortunately, as this November 23, 1880 Plain Dealer article reveals, Henry Hoffman died at age 53. His successors were not able to successfully continue the business.
