During the period 1903-1908 when the siting and building of the West Side branch library was being planned, one of the earliest proposed features for the new building was an auditorium. It was proposed by the Library Board of Trustees in May 1903, just days after the first Carnegie donation was announced. When it was decided to place the new library in a park, the auditorium became part of the proposal to make the park a civic center on the west side. Consistent with that idea, the auditorium in the Carnegie-West library was designed to seat 650 persons. | Source: Cleveland Public Library, Library ArchivesDownload Original File
