Demolition on Sutton and Colwyn, 1969
Despite the need to demolish a number of homes for the Sutton Place townhouse project, there was relatively little public outcry over the project. One reason was the area's undesirability as a site for new construction or housing rehabilitation. The lands were plagued by regular flooding. Through landscaping, inclusion of green spaces and decreased housing density, the Sutton Place project offered new life to the residential neighborhood. | Source: "Shaker Redevelopment Nears End of First Phase."
