Sutton Place was built as an experiment in residential housing by Alcoa Construction Systems, Inc., an affiliate of Alcoa Building Industries, a division of the Aluminum Co. of America. Alcoa has a long tradition of developing new uses for aluminum, often in partnership with other industries. Dating back to the creation and marketing of an aluminum teakettle in 1895, Alcoa has pioneered the use of its alloys in automobile bodies and wheels, aerospace technologies, high-rise and residential buildings, pull tabs for cans and unbreakable bottles. | Source: Cleveland Public Library Photograph Department
