Library use had more than doubled in the decade prior to the renovation of Moreland Elementary School. Throughout this time, the Library Board of Trustees explored options for expansion. A survey commissioned by the Board indicated that the main branch should be between 36,000 and 40,000 square feet. The existing Lee Road Main Library was 18,000 square feet.
