Around the World Playground, 1996
As part of a complete makeover of the Chagrin-Lee intersection’s southwest quadrant during the mid 1990s, community members were invited to assist the City’s landscape architect in preparing plans for recreational facilities on the grounds. Over two and a half acres of land along Chagrin were landscaped as a play field, and a community-themed playground constructed next to the Library. Around the World Playground was financed from $382,000 in grant funds received from the Ohio Department of Natural Resources Nature Works program and the Cuyahoga County Community Development Block Grant program. | Source: Shaker Heights Public Library, Local History Collection
