Carpenter House

Carpenter House
The Carpenter House was built circa 1831 by Vermont emigrant John Carpenter upon settling in what would become Olmsted. The home was designed in the Federal Style, which was popular in the late 1700s and early 1800s. The architectural type is most noticeably characterized by a rectangular, symmetrical exterior lacking in ornamentation. Like many Federal houses in the North, the house was designed around a central chimney fed by the home's multiple fireplaces. The Carpenter House was placed on the the Historic American Building Survey in 1935, | Source: Image courtesy of Olmsted Historical Society
