Built of locally quarried Berea sandstone, the imposing Garfield Memorial towers over a grassy knoll overlooking Lake Erie. It is the nation's third tallest presidential memorial. Only the Washington Monument and the George Washington Masonic National Memorial (in Alexandria, Virginia) are taller.
