That was how many Aragon Ballroom patrons viewed it. The floor was composed of two layers of wood, hardwood maple on top and a softer subfloor below, the two layers separated by an airspace. It gave the floor "bounce," and was perfect for gliding through the waltz-style dances of the big band era.
