Prague Sokol Slet

Prague Sokol Slet
Beginning in 1882, on the twentieth anniversary of the founding of the Czech Sokol Society, large festivals--called "slets," were periodically held at stadiums in the city of Prague. The above photo is of the 1932 Sokol Slet held in Strahov Stadium. There, crowds of up to 135,000 visitors watched 15,000 gymnasts perform complex and synchronized routines over the course of the 17-day festival.
