West Cleveland Town Hall

West Cleveland Town Hall
Oliver Alger presided as mayor of the Village of West Cleveland from 1883-1889 in the above building which served as the town hall. The town hall was originally located on the corner of what is now Detroit Avenue and West 83rd Street. In 1894, the building was moved to West 69th Street and then moved again, in 1911, to Herman Avenue. Shown here in a 1948 photograph, the building served as a neighborhood grocery store during this era.
