Shaker Meeting House, 1894
Following the disbanding of the North Union Shaker community in 1889, the remaining 27 elderly members relocated to other settlements. The land was sold to Cleveland developers, who quickly resold the property to a group of Buffalo real estate speculators. The Van Sweringen brothers would soon-after step in and transform the region into one of America's most successful and prosperous suburban developments.
