Following four moves during its first century of existence, First Baptist Church would remain at the home on Fairmount Boulevard to the present day. Developing roots within the surrounding community, the congregation and practices of the church began to reflect the social, cultural, and economic changes that simultaneously shaped Shaker Heights, Cleveland Heights, and the Baptist faith following World War II. The church would also work to influence the character of its surroundings through the promotion of local and international mission work, community outreach programs, and opportunities for it members to participate in music and fine arts programs. | Date: 1965 | Source: Shaker Heights Public Library
