Woodland Cemetery Main Entrance

In 1870, a stone entrance-way with a chapel and a waiting room was constructed. In 1995, citing safety concerns and financial constraints, the city dismantled the stone gate. For the next two decades the stones lay in a pile in the cemetery until Michelle Day led a successful campaign by the Woodland Cemetery Foundation to rebuild the historic structure. Work was completed in 2020. | Source: Cleveland Memory Project, Cleveland State University Library Special Collections
