The 107th Ohio Volunteer Infantry Flag
The 107th OVI was one of the many regiments organized at Camp Taylor. A large part of the regiment was German immigrants, causing the group to also be known as the 5th German Regiment. On September 9, 1862 it was mustered into a three year service. The 107th participated in the battle of Chancellorsville in May, 1863 ,Gettysburg in July of 1863, helped pursue Lee as he crossed the Potomac, Hagerstown in July of 1863, John's Island in July of 1862, and others. On July 10, 1865 the 107th was mustered out of service and returned to Cuyahoga county to receive their payment at Camp Cleveland.
