Fischer & Jirouch Building

Fischer & Jirouch started in 1902 in a very small building at Huron and Middle Streets near what is now Rocket Arena. By 1906 the growing firm moved its studio to a larger building at 1008 Scovill Avenue at the corner of Erie (E. 9th) Street. It had once again outgrown its space four years later, leading it to build a three-story building at 4821 Superior Avenue in 1910. This building included a large showroom consisting of themed display rooms in addition to its expansive studios, where thousands of molds hung from the ceilings in the manner of kitchen pots and pans. The display rooms included an O'Kast room with replica paneled walls and beams, an Adam room in a colonial style, English, French, and Spanish rooms, and rooms designed to depict a garden and a patio. | Creator: J.
