Scale Model of Guardian Trust Lobby

Fischer & Jirouch specialized in architectural modeling in plaster and produced both exterior and interior models for various architectural firms, notably Walker & Weeks. Several of these models were pictured in the company's 1931 catalog, including this one of the interior of the Guardian Trust Building, originally built in 1896 as a Chicago School skyscraper. In 1915, Guardian Trust acquired the building and hired Walker & Weeks to modify the lower facade in the Neoclassical Revival style and match this in a new banking lobby. Walker & Weeks turned to Fischer & Jirouch to create a scale model to help finalize the design before construction began. | Date: 1931 | Source: Fischer & Jirouch Co., Interior & Exterior Decorative Ornament, Catalog no. 12
