Dearing's 1035 East 105th Street is often erroneously presented as U. S. Dearing's first restaurant, ignoring the fact that he had owned his own restaurant in Pittsburgh more than a decade and a half earlier and had operated four previous Dearing's restaurants between 1938 and 1945 before opening this one. Nonetheless, it is true that this location was the first in which his business became firmly rooted and began to grow.
