These portraits of Joseph F. Friedrich (1811-1888) and Margarete Schaefer Schmitt Friedrich (1822-1894) were taken by Cleveland photographer Frank Becker circa 1888. Joseph and Margarete were both German immigrants. Their grandson, Alphonse Friedrich (1889-1948), founded Fridrich Bicycle which, until it closed in 2024, was the oldest retail bicyle store in the United States.
