Receiving the Olympic Oak Saplings

Receiving the Olympic Oak Saplings
All of the winners at the 1936 Berlin Olympics were given oak saplings to commemorate their victory. Jesse Owens, who won four gold medals at those Olympics, ultimately received four. In this photo, Ruth Owens, his wife, is shown with three of the saplings which arrived at their house by mail on December 23, 1936. | Source: Cleveland Memory Project, Cleveland State University Special Collections
