The Cleveland Rosenblum's

The Cleveland Rosenblum's
In addition to being a business owner, Max Rosenblum was also an avid supporter of sports. What many Clevelanders don’t know is that the Cavaliers was not this city’s first professional basketball team. Organized sometime in the late 1910s the Cleveland Rosenblum’s was a club team that primarily played exhibition games against teams from other cities. In 1925 Max Rosenblum helped to establish the American Basketball League (ABL), the country’s first national basketball league. Max’s team quickly became one of the best teams in the league, winning the championship in 1926, 1927, 1929, and 1930. The Rosenblum’s eventually left the ABL due to declining attendance during the depression. Max Rosenblum was also an avid supporter of boxing and baseball for which he had received multiple awards and commendations. | Source: Cleveland Public Library Photograph Collection
