In 1930, the City of Cleveland built a shelter house (also called a "comfort station") on Market Square which fronted on West 25th Street. This required, as is shown in this photo copy of the City's plans, a realignment of the vendor stall spaces on Market Square. The Shelter House was converted into a commercial store and leased by the City to private sector businesses beginning in circa 1950.
