The Harding Block

The Harding Block
In 1902, Cleveland Mayor Tom Johnson decided to build the new West Side Market on land situated near the northeast corner of Pearl (W. 25th) Street and Lorain Avenue. Standing on this land in that year were several multi-story retail buildings, including the Harding Block which stood on the corner as is shown in this photo taken that year. The Harding Block and several other buildings visible in this photograph were later razed to make room for the new West Side Market. | Source: Cleveland Public Library, Photograph Collection
