By 1925, Shaker Heights residents had begun to complain of slow and inadequate service for inter-library loans. To assist in transporting books in a timely manner to its newly formed branches, the County purchased a Ford Sedan. Following eight years of service, "the cost of repairs had begun to devour the book fund."
