Like an Armed Camp
That's how the Cleveland Press on January 12, 1915, described the first day of the trial of Harvey Callahan, Cleveland Leader distributor, charged with the murder of Thomas Gibbons. Show in the photograph left to right are: Frank "Tom the Dog" O'Neill, charged with murder; Harvey "Chipper" Callahan, charged with murder; and James "The Built" Ragen, the Circulation Manager for the Cleveland Leader. The trial lasted for two weeks, as dozens of witnesses testified to their recollection of how the shooting occurred.
