Scooping krausen at Forest City Brewing

Scooping krausen at Forest City Brewing
Brewing jobs were often difficult, messy, and poorly paid. In this photo a worker skims krausen, the foamy bi-product of fermentation, from a large vat of beer. Although the beer in this vat would be room-temperature at this point, the vat would be similar to the one Jerry Mrazek's boiled body was discovered at the bottom of in 1911. | Date: 1945 | Source: Special Collections, Cleveland State University Library
