Harriet Keeler Memorial Woods, 1942

Harriet Keeler Memorial Woods, 1942
Within months of Harriet Keeler's death in 1921, friends, colleagues, and women's club members organized to find a suitable place of tribute for the prominent Clevelander. By 1923, the Cleveland Park Board had agreed to set aside over 300 acres of land along Chippewa creek in Brecksville Reservation to Keeler's memory. The grounds were selected for their diverse habitat, rich in native specimens of trees, shrubs and flowers found in the writings of Harriet Keeler. | Date: 1942 | Source: Cleveland Public Library Photograph Collection
