The 1850 federal census of Warrensville Township reveals that all members of the Kewish family were immigrants from the Isle of Man. Also living on the property at 19620 Chagrin Boulevard were William Caine, who was probably a brother or other close relative of Jane Kewish, and James Collister, a blacksmith, who later married Jane's daughter, Anne. Both men were Manx immigrants also.
