Mortar Practice

"Mortar Practice" represents the Navy Group. In this sculpture, an officer and five men are loading a mortar, preparing to fire upon enemy entrenchments. This scene takes place at the Battle of New Madrid and Island No. 12 which lasted from February 28 until April 8, 1862.
