Jabez Warner Fitch

At the beginning of the Civil War Brigade General J. W. Fitch was placed in charge of volunteers at Camp Taylor. He enforced strict military policies over the soldiers under his charge. The result was that the regiments that were mustered into service from the camp, such as the 7th OVI, showed excellent discipline. After Camp Taylor was discontinued, Gen. Fitch served as a private and later the quartermaster for the 19th Ohio Volunteer Infantry. Fitch is buried at Erie Street Cemetery.
