Soon-to-be Operation Demonstrate House

Soon-to-be Operation Demonstrate House
Operation Demonstrate was a pre–urban renewal attempt to encourage renovation of blighted houses in the central city. This house at 2438 Charity Avenue (now covered by the St. Vincent Charity Hospital's complex) was split in half to move to the Mall to be rebuilt into the "Traditional House," one of two Operation Demonstrate houses on display in downtown for a few months. The twin towers of St. Martin's Roman Catholic Church on Scovill Avenue (Community College Ave.) and East 23rd Street rise in the distance. | Creator: John Nash | Date: September 14, 1955 | Source: Cleveland Memory Project, Cleveland State University Library Special Collections
