United Recreation Bowling Alley
Pierson and his business partner Rodger Price put up the capital to help Black bowling league organizer Elmer Reed open United Recreation, Cleveland's first Black-owned bowling lanes, in 1941. United Recreation was located in a business block at Cedar and East 82nd, next door to El Morocco Lounge Bar, a longtime Green Book–listed business. | Creator: City of Cleveland, Board of Zoning Appeals | Date: 1961 | Source: Cleveland Public Library, Photograph Collection
