A Potential Influence
Frederick Law Olmsted Jr’s and architect Grosvenor Atterbury’s work on the early planned community of Forest Hills Gardens in New York’s Queens bears a striking similarity to Fairhill Road Village through its use of shared and private space as well as detached and semi-detached housing. Two attached homes are flanked on either side by a fully detached home reminiscent of Fairhill's layout. Unlike the house groupings of Forest Hills Gardens, Fairhill offered private gardens for each home as well as a garage, essential for modern living. | Source: Forest Hills Gardens Foundation
