This Italianate design house, which was located at 3105 Franklin Boulevard, was built for Judge James Coffinberry in 1875. Henry Coffinberry, and his wife Harriet, lived in the house for a year, possibly to help his parents recover from injuries they suffered in a train-carriage collision that year. The accident, and the litigation which ensued, led to the C.C.C. & I. Railroad Company installing Cleveland's first railroad crossing safety gates.
