First House on Franklin

First House on Franklin
After John Bousfield's wooden ware manufacturing business became successful, his family in 1863 moved into this grand house located on the southeast corner of Franklin Avenue (Boulevard) and Duane (West 32nd) Street. John's business failed in 1875, and the family eventually lost the house to creditors in 1880. This undated photo of the house, in light of houses on West 31st Place seen in the background, was likely taken sometime between 1875 and 1880. | Source: Patrick Wilhelm, a third great grandson of John and Sarah Bousfield
