Hero ID: 10116 | This file appears in: Adele von Ohl Parker This photo of Adele von Ohl Parker was taken by a Press photographer at Parker's Ranch on October 22, 1955, the day after the 70 year old Parker saved 18 girls scouts and several of their guests from possible serious injury, after the hay wagon in which they were riding was struck from behind by a car being driven by a drunk driver. Parker, who was thrown from the wagon, held onto the reins as she was dragged along Columbia Road in North Olmsted, and eventually stopped the wagon by using one of her boots as a brake against one of the wagon's wheels. It wasn't the first time she had shown such bravery. Over the years, newspapers across the country reported on several events in which Parker saved lives by using her equestrian skills with runaway horses. | Source: Cleveland State University, Michael Schwartz Library, Special Collections Download Original File SourceCleveland State University, Michael Schwartz Library, Special Collections "Hero" appears in: Adele von Ohl Parker
